Dave, what moves you when you look back on the history of the Liebenzell Mission? Looking back on our 125-year history, I am moved by how passionate, sacrificial and innovative our founder Heinrich Coerper was. I am also impressed by Sister Lina Stahl and her faithfulness to prayer as well as the generous benefactor Hilda von Diest. I am deeply impressed by the commitment of hundreds of missionaries, seven of whom even lost their lives. The support of thousands of friends never ceases to amaze me. What fascinates you about Heinrich Coerper? Heinrich Coerper was an impressively charismatic founder. He was very well connected, determined and open to new ideas. He deliberately allowed women to preach and sent them as fully-fledged co-workers in mission work and later community work. From the very beginning, he – like Hudson Taylor – also emphasised the importance of the missionaries quickly learning the local language and adapting culturally. He clearly had his downsides. However, he also stood for valuable convictions. I often think of one of his statements that underlines what is very important to me personally for our organisation: “Being saved gives a saviour’s mind!” Where is the Liebenzell Mission active today? Our approximately 250 missionaries are active on all continents, in around 25 countries. In remote areas of Africa, in the South American highlands or in metropolises such as Berlin and Tokyo. Under the motto “With God from one person to another” they pass on the Good News of Jesus Christ in word and deed – because God longs for every person. Our employees plant Christian churches, provide training, are involved in social projects and help in acute emergencies. We work with more than 80 churches and organisations worldwide on an interdenominational basis. We currently support over 200 local employees around the world. Today, mission work takes place from everywhere to everywhere. For a long time now, it has ceased to be a one-way street. Mission work is facing fundamental changes, but the global organisation “God’s Mission” will never come to an end. CEO Dave Jarsetz is convinced of this. GOD IS THE FOUNDER AND LORD OF OUR MISSION Today, mission work takes place from everywhere to everywhere. For a long time now, it has ceased to be a one-way street. 20 Change of leadership O Regional Bishop Gerhard Maier inducts Rev. Detlef Krause (left) as the new Director and Rev.
